Step into the enchanted world of our Sleeping Beauty Ballet Camp during Day 2 of Storybook Ballet Camp!
Inspired by the beloved classical ballet The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky, this magical ballet camp experience introduces young dancers to the story, music, and famous scenes from one of the most celebrated ballets of all time.
One of the most iconic moments in the ballet is the famous Rose Adagio 🌹 — a scene in Act 1 where Princess Aurora dances with four royal suitors, each presenting her with a beautiful rose. During our Sleeping Beauty Ballet Camp, dancers explore this scene through creative movement activities using red balloons to represent Aurora’s roses as they twirl, balance, and dance through the music.

Unlike the animated Sleeping Beauty story many children know, the original ballet includes a dramatic moment where Princess Aurora pricks her finger on a spindle hidden inside a bouquet of roses placed there by the evil fairy Carabosse. This important detail becomes part of our storytelling and imaginative movement activities throughout camp day.
The word of the day during Sleeping Beauty Ballet Camp is Variation. Dancers learn that The Sleeping Beauty Ballet includes a Prologue and 3 Acts with 14 different ballet variations performed throughout the story. Through age-appropriate discussion and movement exploration, dancers begin discovering how ballet uses music and choreography to tell stories.

Our dancers also create their own beautiful rose craft using rose petal stickers and floral decorations, connecting creativity and visual art to the ballet theme.
The adventure continues with a magical obstacle course where dancers become the Lilac Fairy helping the prince journey through the enchanted forest to find the Sleeping Beauty. Dancers tiptoe through winding pathways, leap over obstacles, and use expressive storytelling movement to bring the ballet adventure to life.
Sleeping Beauty Ballet Camp combines classical ballet, storytelling, imaginative play, music, and creative dance into an unforgettable experience designed especially for young dancers. Through movement-based learning and themed activities, children build confidence, coordination, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the art of ballet.
